racial justice

From Plantation Capitalism to the Beloved Community

Racism, sexism, violence, and plantation capitalism…. all four of these evolved in the United States to make us where we are today. You cannot be for the dismantling of the economic injustices in our society, inequality, if you are not committed to the eradication of racism.
Rev James Lawson, Jerry Wurf Memorial Lecture, Harvard Law School, 2/19/2015
The workplace is just one front of many struggles for justice. We must join our neighbors in many kinds of coalitions to build a Beloved Community in which everyone is cared for, absent of poverty, hunger, and hate.

Black/Brown Clergy Community Coalition

The Black/Brown Clergy Community Coalition (BBCCC), builds a common advocacy agenda for African American and Latine pastors in Southern California, to stem the rising national tide of repression and intolerance that impacts both our communities.

our goals include

Ensuring healthcare for all

Building a larger, fairer economy

Ending homelessness and pushing for affordable housing

Defeating laws that over-police low-income people and people of color

Protecting union rights and the labor movement

Ending police violence in our communities

Working for true immigration reform

Black Jewish Justice Alliance

The Black Jewish Justice Alliance (BJJA) is a joint project of CLUE and the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, Los Angeles Chapter (SCLC-LA). The BJJA is a table at which Black and Jewish faith and advocacy organizations meet to work on issues of criminal justice reform and social justice more broadly. Notably, the BJJA was part of a coalition that helped to establish the Los Angeles Sheriff Civilian Oversight Commission in 2016.
