IMMIGRATION

WE STAND
FOR IMMIGRANT
JUSTICE

At the core of nearly every faith tradition lies the concept of a just, harmonious, and loving society where all souls are valued and everyone can thrive. It is unconscionable for our government officials to use faith language to perpetuate racialized terror and persecution of immigrants and communities of color.

CLUE has coordinated a multiracial, interfaith response to unjust immigration enforcement and detention since the New Sanctuary movement in the 2010s. This work is grounded in our desire to create the Beloved Community we imagine, where all can live in safety and wellness, no matter their immigration status or color of their skin.

CLUE RAPID RESPONSE NETWORK

In coordination with our partners, including the Los Angeles and Orange County Rapid Response Networks, CLUE coordinates a nonviolent Immigration Rapid Response Network of trusted clergy and lay leaders in Los Angeles and Orange Counties.

COURTROOM OBSERVATION
AND ACCOMPANIMENT

Every week, trained clergy and community members gather to observe court hearings at the Immigration Courthouses in Santa Ana and Downtown LA. Doing so signals to judges and ICE that their actions are not going unseen. Through this practice, we are able to accompany individuals and families who oftentimes are experiencing the worst day of their lives, and provide practical and spiritual counsel. Additionally, we respond to requests to accompany specific individuals to and from court.

DETAINED IMMIGRANT
BOND FUND

In partnership with Immigrant Defenders Law Center, CLUE provides detained immigrants in Los Angeles, Orange Counties and beyond
who qualify for bond, with the bond money that allows them to get
out of detention, and return back to their lives and families while they build a case to gain status.

RAPID RESPONSE

CLUE WELCOME
NETWORK

CLUE cultivates a vast network of houses of worship whose congregants provide respite and support for migrants released into Southern California. This initiative is conducted in partnership with CHIRLA, legal service providers, and community referrals. Some congregations provide temporary shelter or short-term housing, while others support those efforts with gifts of clothing, toiletries, supplies, or transportation.

If your congregation is interested in joining the Welcome Network and offering housing, supplies or support services, please contact Faith Rooted Organizer, Sithy Bin.

Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice educates,
organizes, and mobilizes the faith community to accompanyworkers and their families in their struggle for good jobs,
dignity, and justice.
